چکیده
The goal of this article is to present a concise review of the current concepts of shoulder instability. This chapter supplements the radiologic assessment of glenohumeral instability, which follows this section.

A Comparison of Glenohumeral Internal and External Range of Motion and Rotation Strength in Healthy and Individuals with Recurrent Anterior Instability
Background: The glenohumeral joint becomes dislocated more than any other major joint because it maintains a wide range of motion and its stability is inherently weak. The most common complication following acute initial shoulder dislocation is recurrent dislocation or chronic instability. Imbalance of strength and range of motion in individuals with anterior dislocation can be a contributing ...
متن کاملOsteochondritis Dissecans of the Humeral Head: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) is a common joint disorder in knee, ankle and elbow, however it can be rarely found in glenohumeral joint. In this study, we report an asymptomatic case of humeral head OCD, which was detected incidentally following a trauma. X-rays showed an area of lucency around an oval bony fragment measuring about 1 cm on the superior aspect of the humeral head. However, ...

متن کاملAssociation of generalized joint hypermobility with a history of glenohumeral joint instability.
CONTEXT Little is known about the relationship among sex, generalized joint hypermobility, and glenohumeral joint instability. OBJECTIVE To examine the relationship among sex, generalized joint hypermobility scores, and a history of glenohumeral joint instability within a young, physically active cohort and to describe the incidence of generalized joint hypermobility within this population. ...
متن کاملAn Assessment of the Laxity of the Inferior Glenohumeral Ligament
We studied 100 fresh human shoulders in cadavers (mean age 76 years), and the range of passive abduction (RPA) in 100 volunteers with normal shoulders and in 90 patients with instability of the joint, over a period of six years. The anatomical and clinical findings showed that passive abduction occurs within the glenohumeral joint only, is controlled by the inferior glenohumeral ligament and ha...
